Are the templates usable on a royalty-free basis?
Yes, but... you can't distribute or resell the templates as "templates" in any way. You can use them to create your own websites (private & commercial) and also for commercial design work (creating websites for customers).
Do I need to implent an backlink or button/graphic to EYELAND STUDIO / HP-G ?
No, as an registered member you don`t need to link to us inside the templates. In some templates, links or buttons are pre-defined for demonstration reasons — you can delete them or replace them with your own.
Which tools/editors do I need to customize the templates ?
As long as you use our templates *as they are* (just for HTML editing) a HTML editor is need only. The templates are finally created with Macromedia Dreamweaver ( Version 4 ) but you can edit them with any standard editor like Frontpage, Homesite, Namo, Web Objects Fusion etc. If you are smart with sourcecodes you can use also an simple text editor.
For customizing the graphics (buttons, for example) a simple graphic tool (like "Windows Paint") is needed. The better the graphic tools the better the possibilities. Our new templates are delivered inclusive Photoshop and Fireworks layered sourcefiles for an optimum of "customizing freedom".
What`s the difference between the "old" and the "new" HTML templates ?
"OLD Templates":
· Each of the "old" templates comes with a HTML page (table-layout) & web-optimized graphics. In most cases there is a also a backup copy of the original and a second pages which is "stretched" to provide more space for content included. You can edit/customize the template with all standard editors like Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Homesite etc. (the templates are prepared for an easy import in those editors).
"NEW Templates" : (since October 2002 only "new" templates were added to Template Foundry)
· Every template comes with 2 layout versions : table- AND frame-based
· Every Templates contains a startpage and several ready-linked sub-pages
· Every template comes with the Photoshop layered PSD sourcefile and with the Macromedia Fireworks PNG sources
· Every pre-labeled button or logo space is also available as blank image for your own designs and logos.
· templates are scalable from 800 X 600 pixels to 1600 X 1200 pixels
· Every Template come with CSS.
· Helpfull comments inside the HTML sourcecode makes customizing more easy ( the comments define areas/parts like "navigation" , "main content", "logo-space" etc. )
· Finally, all templates are fast loading all ranging from 30 to 60Kb.
Can I edit/customize the templates any way I want ?
YES ! There no restrictions : You can edit/replace/delete all included graphics or take just parts of them for own design ideas..as you like it. We are happy to feature your creative work!
HINT: Since Template Foundry is bundled with Photoshop Foundry much more design possibilities are provided (replace template buttons with buttons of Photoshop Foundry, add props or graphics details etc.)
In case I use a HTML template to create a website for a customer (commercial design work) : Do I have to pay extra fees ?
As long as you don`t sell/distribute the original sourcefiles ( PSD, PNG & HTML ) : NO ! You can use the templates for your commercial design work ( customize the logo, buttons and other graphics, implent the text content of your customer, add pages, hyperlinks etc. ) . The only restriction is that you can`t sell/distribute our templates as templates in any way. That`s our buisiness.
Will there come more HTML Templates of the "new style" next time ?
Of course ! Within the next weeks several dozens of "NEW GENERATION" HTML Templates will be added to Template Foundry.
